San Angelo Central’s Christian English Signs With Fresno City College

SAN ANGELO, TX — Christian “Squeak” English, a standout in football and basketball at San Angelo Central, announced Thursday he will play both sports at Fresno City College in California.

English made the announcement on X, bringing an end to speculation about which college he would choose and which sport he would play.

English received football offers from Angelo State University, Sul Ross State, McMurry and Hendrix after two years as Central’s starting quarterback.

In 20 games with the Bobcats, English threw for 4,460 yards and 35 touchdowns with only eight interceptions. He also rushed for 2,042 yards and 37 TDs.

However, English was also the leading scorer on the Bobcats’ basketball team, and he expressed interest in continuing that sport collegiately if given the opportunity.

English was one of the best all-around players in West Texas with 20.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 3.7 steals per game.

Fresno City will give him the chance to keep playing both sports.

Fresno City went 8-3 during football season last year, while the Rams were 18-12 in basketball.

English also announced that his older brother, Jacob, would be transferring to Fresno City College with him.

Jacob set the school-record in the high jump at Central in 2023 with a jump of 6-foot-9. He signed to compete at Angelo State University. He was also a wide receiver on Central’s football team.
