13 Area Players Named to TGCA All-State Girls Basketball Team

AUSTIN, TX — After a season that saw five girls basketball teams from around the area reach the regional final or farther, there was strong representation from the Concho Valley on the Texas Girls Coaches Association all-state teams.

There were 13 players from our area that were honored on the team, including three from Tom Green County.

Wall’s Brylyn Watts was our area’s lone selection on the Class 3A team, while Christoval’s Halle Hughes and Madyson George were named to the 2A team.

Other 2A selections included Ballinger’s Ashtyn Wilson, Ozona’s Kelyn Gass, Forsan’s Harleigh Greer, Mason’s Anna Marie Whitworth, and San Saba’s Chassidy Gonzalez and Cinzlea Stanton.

Players named to the 1A team included Bronte’s Emalyn Bohensky, Irion County’s Acelyn Fowler, and Garden City’s Karly Baker and Brylon Frerich.

It was a memorable season for the area, led by San Saba’s run to the state final.
