SAN ANGELO, TX — The No. 4-ranked Angelo State Rambelles claimed their second doubleheader sweep in as many days Sunday at Mayer Softball Field, defeating Eastern New Mexico 10-1 in the first game before coming back to win the second game 3-2 in their final at-bat.
Laylonna Applin had a double in the bottom of the seventh inning to drive in the winning run in the nightcap.
On Saturday, ASU swept Western New Mexico 6-0 and 6-5. The Belles rallied from a 5-1 deficit in the seventh inning to secure the second win.
ASU is now 26-4 overall and 17-3 in Lone Star Conference play. The Belles begin a 10-game road trip next weekend, beginning Friday, March 21, at No. 3 West Texas A&M.
ASU head coach Travis Scott is closing in on 1,000 career wins. He’s currently at 998 after this past weekend.
