San Angelo Relays Canceled Due to Inclement Weather

SAN ANGELO, TX — Due to forecasts of high winds and inclement weather, the San Angelo Relays have been canceled this weekend.

The storied track and field meet, which was scheduled for Friday and Saturday at San Angelo Stadium, was set to mark its 66th year.

The decision to cancel the meet was made to prioritize the safety of athletes, coaches and spectators, according to a release from San Angelo ISD.

“The weather conditions expected later this week create an unsafe environment for not only competition but for travel as well,” said SAISD Athletic Director Rodney Chant. “While we regret having to cancel, safety comes first. We appreciate everyone’s understanding and look forward to next year’s event.”
