SAN ANGELO, TX — Three Angelo State University football players earned national honors recently.
Sophomore quarterback Braeden Fuller finished eighth in voting for the Harlon Hill Trophy, which is awarded to the top football player in NCAA Division II, while senior defensive back Andrew Pitts and senior linebacker Eric Rascoe were named All-Americans.
Fuller threw for 2,318 yards and 19 touchdowns with only two interceptions. He also rushed for 678 yards and 10 TDs.
The first-year starter led the Rams to a 9-3 season and an undefeated Lone Star Conference title.
Central Missouri quarterback Zach Zebrowski won the Harlon Hill Trophy for the second consecutive year.
As for ASU’s All-Americans, Pitts earned first-team honors after recording six interceptions this season and was named the LSC Defensive Back of the Year. He finished as ASU’s career leader with 22 INTs.
Rascoe earned second-team honors after collecting 55 tackles with four sacks, three interceptions, and 6.5 tackles for loss. He was named the LSC’s Co-Linebacker of the Year.
