Junction Eagles Shut Out Somerville, Set Program Record for Wins

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — The Junction Eagles moved on to the regional final with a dominant 32-0 win over Somerville on Friday.

Junction’s 12th win of the season was the most in program history.

Junction’s offense gets a lot of attention for the football team’s success, but the defense and special teams showed what it was capable of in this game.

The defense’s shutout was highlighted by Grant Simon’s interception return for a touchdown that gave the Eagles a 17-0 lead in the second quarter.

Marcos Estrada shined on special teams by connecting on 4-of-4 field-goal attempts.

Aidan Cardwell added two TD runs.

Junction (12-1) is in the regional final for the first time since 2009. The Eagles will play Shiner next week at a site and time to be determined.

Somerville, which was enjoying its best season in program history, ended its year with a record of 11-2.
