Angelo State Rams Hit the Road to Kingsville this Weekend

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — The No. 20 Angelo State Rams (3-2, 2-1 LSC) come off a bye week this week when they travel to Kingsville to play the Texas A&M Kingsville Javelinas on Saturday, October 14. 

Angelo State enters Saturday’s contest on a two-game winning streak. Before the bye, the Rams defeated Eastern New Mexico 23-14 in Portales 23-14. Angelo State currently sports a 3-2 overall record and is 2-1 in Lone Star Conference play.

Rams’ Head Coach Jeff Girsch held his weekly press conference on Monday, October 9, to discuss his thoughts on Angelo State’s bye week and what he expects from the Javelinas on Saturday. Watch the full press conference HERE.

The game will be at Pepsi Field at Javelina Stadium in Kingsville on Saturday, October 14. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Scouting Report:

TEXAS A&M KINGSVILLE:

  • The Javelinas enter the weekend with a 4-1 overall record, going 2-1 in LSC action.
  • TAMUK earned a win last week, defeating West Texas A&M 28-21. The Javelinas' only conference loss was against UT Permian Basin, 29-17.
  • The Javelinas are giving up the fewest points in the LSC, allowing only 17.2 points per game.
  • TAMUK has the top rushing defense in the conference, allowing only 82 yards per game on the ground.
  • Ezrah Thibodeaux is tied for second in the LSC in sacks with three, while Amos Coleman is second in interceptions with three.
  • Saturday will be Homecoming for the Javelinas.

TOP 25 IN THE POLLS:

  • The Rams are ranked 20th in the AFCA Division II Coaches' poll while coming in 19th in the D2Football.com poll.

ANGELO STATE:

  • The Rams hold the second-best offense in the conference with 419.4 yards per game while scoring the second post points with 33.6.
  • ASU is allowing the second-fewest yards in the LSC at 245.6.
  • Zorhan Rideaux leads the conference in receiving yards with 430 on the season, averaging 86 yards per game.
  • Josh Booker-Brown leads the LSC in sacks with 3.5, while Eric Rascoe is ninth in the conference in tackles per game with an average of 6.2.
  • Brayden Wilcox is averaging 63.8 rushing yards per game, which is sixth in the Lone Star.
