SAN ANGELO— The Concho Valley has filled all the open head coaching jobs for the upcoming football season.
A new year means new faces at many schools not only in the Concho Valley, but the entire state of Texas. Naturally, the career choice to go into coaching is either a rough one or a fantastic one. Coaches get fired or poached for other schools. Sometimes extenuating circumstances pushes coaches out. Either way, every head football coaching vacancy has now been filled in the Concho Valley.
Irion County Hornets
Former coach Don Coffell has left the program and in return, Irion County promoted defensive coordinator Shawn Harrison into the role. Harrison will have his own challegenes to face as quarterback Trevin Coffell, wide receiver Bo Marrow, and running back J.J Harrison have all graduated.
Water Valley Wildcats
Wildcat coach Charles Boles took over for one season at Water Valley and was diagnosed for a third time with cancer. Much of the football season, Boles was in M.D. Anderson in Houston, Texas for treatment and assistant coach Aaron Whitmire, along with other coaches, stepped up to fill Boles’ shoes. Now, Whitmire has accepted the head football coaching position after Boles’ retirement.
San Angelo TLCA Eagles
Eagles former head coach Matt Jones accepted the defensive coordinator job at Water Valley. Jones will get a chance to coach with his wife, Wall’s former volleyball coach Robynn Jones, at the same school. San Angelo TLCA athletic director Kent Sherrill allowed COVER1 to announce that Maypearl’s assistant coach, Paulo Gonzalez, would be taking over the head football coaching job at TLCA.
Brady Bulldogs
Bulldogs former coach Shay Easterwood resigned his head coaching position at Brady to join the Abernathy coaching staff. Stamford Bulldog defensive coordinator Jaron Roberts took over at Brady in early June. Both Coach Roberts and his wife graduated from Comanche High School.
