TAMPA BAY— The Cowboys stumbled in the regular season finale Sunday and now have to travel to Raymond James Stadium to take on the Tom Brady led Buccaneers.
Commanders’ rookie quarterback Sam Howell led his Washington team to a beatdown of the Cowboys 26-6. Howell was 11/19 for 169 yards with one touchdown and one interception while Dak Prescott went 14/37 for 128 yards and one touchdown and one interception.
The Cowboys only managed 182 total yards altogether Sunday afternoon which isn’t encouraging when you have to take on Brady next week in Tampa Bay. Dallas had a chance to win the division and/or win the first seed in the NFC Playoffs but played abysmal and settled into the five seed.
It shouldn’t be all doom and gloom as Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy has now led Dallas to two consecutive 12-win seasons which is impressive in itself. Also, before yesterday’s game, the Cowboys were 6-1 against teams with a winning record this season.
Now sights are set on Tampa whose quarterback is 7-0 against the Cowboys in his career. In week 1 this season, the Bucs won 19-3 and the Cowboys lost their starting quarterback for five games.
The Buccaneers aren’t who they were the past couple of seasons as they also have stumbled this year, getting into the playoffs 8-9 with a laundry list of off the field issues including Tom Brady’s divorce and a poor attitude from former wide out Antonio Brown. Brown released screenshots of private messages with Brady.
Either way, the Dallas defense needs to get things figured out as Brady has made a career picking on the weak links in opposing defenses. The Cowboys needing corner help could doom them before the game even starts. Although, linebacker Leighton Vander Esch, center Tyler Biadasz, and defensive tackle Jonathan Hankins could be back next week.
The Cowboys are set to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 7:15 p.m. on Monday, January 16, 2022.

When Jerry Jones fired Tom Landry and didn't have the dignity or guts to tell him to his face, I turned my back on the Cowgirls. If they lose every game under his ownership, I'll be a happy fella.

PermalinkOn this issue you sound just like me. Tom Landry was not handled with the respect he deserved, and Jerry Jones is just another arrogant overly wealthy putz. He may be a good businessman, but he is still a putz. I'm glad that in the clash of egos Jimmy Johnson basically told him to piss off.
