SAN ANGELO, TX — The Miles Bulldogs picked up their first win of the season Friday on the road over Christoval, 27-15.
It was the second consecutive strong defensive showing for Miles, which limited Sonora last week in a 14-6 loss.
This time, Miles got its offense rolling, led by Ryder Satepauhoodle’s 22 carries for 166 yards and a touchdown.
Quarterback Liam Yancy was an efficient 8-of-11 passing for 58 yards and two TDs. Jaxton Bogs and Kaden Karmany had the TD catches.
Miles’ defense was led by Kane Brock with 13 tackles, two tackles for loss, two sacks and a pass breakup. Cutter Travis had eight tackles, three tackles for loss, two sacks, two QB hurries and a pass breakup.
Other solid defensive performers included Karmany (10 tackles and a forced fumble), Yancy (six tackles, one tackle for loss and a fumble return for a TD) and Caleb Guzman (nine tackles, one tackle for loss and two QB hurries).
Christoval’s offense was led by quarterback Ty DeBusk, who had 20 carries for 75 yards and two TDs, but he was held to 9-of-21 passing for 106 yards with an interception.
Danny Alfaro had 10 carries for 62 yards and a TD, and he added three catches for 52 yards.
Miles (1-1) will play again next week when it hosts Reagan County, while Christoval (1-1) will travel to McCamey.
Ozona Falls to Austin Hyde Park
The Ozona Lions took on the challenge of a strong private school program and lost 45-22 to Austin Hyde Park in Kerrville.
It was Ozona’s first regular-season loss since 2024.
The Lions were led by running back Jay Borrego, who had 19 carries for 128 yards and two TDs.
Quarterback Boston Pitts was 12-of-25 passing for 156 yards with two INTs. He also had nine carries for 51 yards.
Andon Glosson was Ozona’s top receiver with four catches for 56 yards.
Kaleb Ramon had a team-high 12 tackles, while Ethan Ramon had 10 tackles.
Ozona (1-1) will play at Junction next week in a game that could be moved to Saturday due to an official shortage.
Robert Lee Unable to Keep Pace With Grady
The Robert Lee Steers jumped out to a 26-6 lead but faltered down the stretch in a 63-34 loss to Grady.
Robert Lee QB Malachi Wauqua had five carries for 83 yards and two TDs, and was 4-of-5 passing for 102 yards and two TDs.
Justice Immel had five catches for 66 yards and a TD, along with eight tackles on defense.
Robert Lee (0-2) will look to earn its first win of the season next week when it travels to Blackwell.
Mason Holds Off Defending State Champion Hamilton
The Mason Punchers went on the road and claimed an impressive 46-44 win over defending state champion Hamilton.
Mason, ranked No. 4 in Class 2A Division I, was playing a Hamilton team that had moved up to 3A D-II.
Since starting last year 1-3, Mason has won 11 of its last 12 games and looks very much like a state-title contender.
The Punchers (2-0) will be tested again next week when they hit the road to play a Granger team that went 12-1 last year.

San Saba Runs Past Eastland
San Saba piled up 438 rushing yards in a 34-19 win over Eastland.
Enrique Mendoza had 14 carries for 182 yards and two TDs, while Jason Everett had 14 carries for 167 yards and two TDs. Graden Lebow also had a TD run.
The defense was led by Melvin Umble with 12 tackles and a tackle for loss, while Jayden Aguirre had five tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery.
San Saba (1-1) will host Goldthwaite next week.
