STARKVILLE, MS - Miss. State Bulldogs Head Coach Mike Leach is in critical condition after a significant cardiac event at his home Sunday morning, Dec. 11. The school had initially disclosed that he was hospitalized due to a "personal health issue."
Initially treated at Oktibbeha County Hospital in Starkville, Leached moved to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, about 125 miles away. UMMC spokesman Marc Rolph said that Leach was listed in critical condition.
Mississippi State Football released a statement about their beloved head coach Tuesday at 10:38 a.m. They said that Coach Leach remains in critical condition as of Monday, Dec. 12. His family is with him, and they appreciate the overwhelming expressions of love and support. They also request that the family's privacy is respected at this time.

Mike Leach is in his third season as the Bulldogs' Head Coach. He led Miss. State to an 8-4 record this year, and his team is currently preparing for the ReliaQuest Bowl against the University of Illinois on Jan. 2.
Leach spent ten years, 2000-2009, at the helm of Texas Tech's football program, where he brought the Red Raiders to ever greater heights before leaving the school after violating medical protocol with one of his players. The firing never sat well with the passionate fan base and is still heavily revered in Lubbock to this day. His 11-win season at Texas Tech in 2008 marks his and Texas Tech's best football seasons in their shared history.
