FORT WORTH, TX — With the end of the 2022 College football regular season at an end, end-of-season awards are here.
TCU’s quarterback, Max Duggan, won his first award, the 2022 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, Wednesday, Nov. 30.
The Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award is given annually in the United States to the nation’s top upperclassmen quarterback in college football. Quarterbacks are judged not only on their stats but also their character, academic achievement, and leadership qualities.
This year, Duggan threw for 3,070 yards and 29 touchdowns with three interceptions. He also accumulated 294 yards on the ground and five touchdown runs.
Duggan is the first TCU quarterback ever to win this award. He is 4th in the nation in passing efficiency at 171.3. He threw 16 touchdown passes of at least 20 yards and scored three touchdowns in eight games this season.
Max Duggan might be in store for more hardware this season as he is a finalist for the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award and is in the running for the Heisman Trophy.
TCU plays Kansas State this Saturday, Dec. 3, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington at 11 a.m. If TCU wins the Big 12 title game, its spot in the 2022 College Football Playoff is almost guaranteed.
