LOS ANGELES, CA- The Los Angeles Rams will take on the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI at SoFi Stadium on Sunday, February 13, 2022.
Joe Burrow led the Cincinnati Bengals to a victory after erasing an 18-point deficit. The Bengals took a 24-21 lead in the 4th quarter, but Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs would tie the game and send it to overtime.
The Chief won the overtime coin toss. A Mahomes pass was tipped back into the hand of Bengals safety Vonn Bell who would intercept it and give the ball to his offense.
Since the Chiefs had an overtime possession, all the Bengals had to do was get into field goal range. Cincinnati kicker Evan McPherson kicked a 31-yard field to in overtime to send the Bengals to back to the Super Bowl for the first time in 33 years.
The Cincinnati Bengals will be the home team in Super Bowl LVI.
The Los Angeles Rams beat the San Francisco 49ers 20-17 and will be only the second team to play in a Super Bowl in their home stadium.
The Rams came back from 10-points down to beat San Francisco in regulation. Ram’s kicker Matt Gay kicked a 30-yard field goal to put Los Angeles up 20-17 with less than 2 minutes remaining in the game.
49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, being pressured by All-Pro defensive lineman Aaron Donald threw a desperate pass that was intercepted by Los Angeles linebacker Travin Howard to send the Rams to the Super Bowl.
The Rams are returning to the big game after losing to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 53, 13-3 in 2019.
