Abilene Christian Scheduled to Play Army in Football this Fall

ABILENE, TX — The ACU Wildcat football team is set to play the Army Black Knights of the NCAA Division I FBS Independent School Conference in a first time match-up between the two , which is known as the highest level of college football during this upcoming fall season.

Abilene Christian University officials confirmed the news sometime Tuesday afternoon, however they did not released a date or location for the game at this time.

The Times-Herald Record from New York reported late Monday evening that Army will be facing ACU in West Point, New York on October 3.

This however, is the first game announced for ACU's upcoming fall season, which was previously cleared by the Southland Conference's postponement of league-wide activities until the spring of 2021.

Currently the Southland Conference is allowing all conference teams to play out-of-conference games during the fall season at each school's discretion.

ACU's head football coach Adam Dorrel and several of the school's administration have stated they are adamant about trying to play some football this fall.

University president Dr. Phil Schubert previously told KTXS, ACU intends to play a maximum of 3-4 games, depending on how the playing of these games might affect some student-athletes' eligibility.

Monday morning ACU head football coach Adam Dorrel noted that the school was prepared to safely play football moving forward, however added that the team is not sure how viable a spring football season would be.
