SAN ANGELO, TX-- San Angelo ISD is sending both high schools to the state football playoffs for the first time since 2015 and they're excited about it.
The district is commemorating the occasion by letting the Central Freshman campus, Central High School and Lake View High School release early from school this Friday.
"We are extremely proud of both high school football teams, who will compete on Friday in the [bi-district] round of the play-offs," Lake View Principal Dr. Jason Skelton said in an open letter to parents and students on social media. "So that our families who wish to attend may have time to travel to either game, Central, Central Freshman and Lake View high schools will have early release this Friday, November 16."
The campuses will release at 1:00 p.m. with buses running at that time.
Central travels to Arlington, in the Metroplex, to face Arlington Lamar at 7:30 p.m. Lake View goes to Fort Stockton to face Clint Mountain View at 7:00 p.m. as well.
The drive to Fort Stockton is roughly 2 hours, 33 minutes. The travel time to Arlington is an estimated 3 hours, 35 minutes.
