BOSTON, MA-- Today marked the 122nd running of the Boston Marathon, known as "the Super Bowl of Running".
A field of over 30,000 runners descended on the wet, windblown streets of Beantown in hopes of completing the race and maybe even winning it.
Two-time Olympian Desiree Linden took home the overall women's title with a time of 2 hours, 39 minutes, 54 seconds, the slowest time for the women's title since 1978.
But that field of 30,000+ had a west Texas feel to it. Trista Box is the one of two Concho Valley residents to take the 26.2-mile challenge from Hopkinton to Copley Square. Becca Simmons is the other San Angelo native partaking in the event.
Simmons finished the race with the fastest time of the San Angeloans at 3 hours, 40 minutes, 43 seconds. Box finished the race with a time of 3 hour, 50 minutes, 10 seconds.
The conditions was not favorable for runners on Patriot's Day with 35 mph winds and up to an inch of rain accumulation.
