Winter Storm Prompts Early Closures at West Texas Grocery Stores, Including San Angelo

 

SAN ANGELO, TX - With winter storms bringing icy conditions and hazardous travel across West Texas, major grocery chains have announced shortened hours this weekend to prioritize the safety of employees and customers. 

The United Family — which operates United Supermarkets, Market Street, and Amigos stores — has implemented adjusted schedules for many locations in the region. 

The Market Street store in San Angelo will close at 8 p.m. tonight (Saturday, January 24) and reopen at 7 a.m. on Sunday, January 25. Fuel pumps at the location will remain available throughout the closure. 

Similar early closures apply to other Market Street stores in Lubbock, Midland, and Odessa. 

Amigos locations in Lubbock and Plainview will also close at 8 p.m. Saturday and reopen Sunday morning at 7 a.m., with fuel pumps staying operational. 

A larger group of United Supermarkets across West Texas will follow the same 8 p.m. Saturday closure and 7 a.m. Sunday reopening. Affected cities include:

  • Brownfield

  • Brownwood

  • Childress

  • Clyde

  • Graham

  • Lamesa

  • Levelland

  • Littlefield

  • Lubbock

  • Midland

  • Muleshoe

  • Odessa

  • Plainview

  • Post

  • Quanah

  • Seminole

  • Seymore

  • Slaton

  • Snyder

  • Vernon

  • Wichita Falls

Market Street stores in North Texas (Allen, Colleyville, Coppell, Flower Mound, Frisco, Mansfield, McKinney, and Plano) will close slightly later at 9 p.m. Saturday before reopening Sunday at 7 a.m.

H-E-B Update:
As of Saturday afternoon, H-E-B stores in San Angelo, Lubbock, Abilene, and the Permian Basin areas are operating under normal hours with no adjustments announced for the storm in those regions. Other parts of Texas, including Central Texas, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Houston, have modified schedules.
