SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo Animal Services is asking for the community’s help after seizing 27 dogs in a recent animal cruelty investigation, which has pushed the city shelter to capacity.
The dogs, taken into custody Monday as part of the investigation, will remain housed at the shelter throughout the hearing and appeal process, according to the department. Officials said the sudden influx of animals is straining resources and space.
Animal Services is urging residents to consider adopting or fostering pets to help reduce overcrowding. Each adoption, the department said, frees a kennel and lowers the number of animals that might otherwise face euthanasia.
“We’re not looking for quick decisions — we’re looking for forever homes for animals who deserve love, stability, and another chance at life,” the shelter said in a statement.
Those interested in adopting can visit the San Angelo Animal Shelter to meet available pets and learn more about the adoption process.
The shelter is located at 3142 N US Highway 67, in San Angelo.
