SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo State Park will host a variety of public events throughout April, including guided hikes, nature-themed programs, and a volunteer day for families.
Bison and longhorn viewing will take place every Wednesday and Saturday at 9 a.m., and several educational and recreational activities are scheduled across the month. Highlights include two wildflower walks, a full moon hike, and a “Fish ’N Prints” art program.
The first wildflower walk is scheduled for Saturday, April 5, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Bell’s Trailhead in the North Concho Parking Lot. A second walk will be held Friday, April 18, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Chaparral Pavilion.
A full moon hike will take place Sunday, April 13, from 8:30 to 10 p.m. at the Isabel Harte Boat Ramp Parking Lot. Visitors are encouraged to bring flashlights and appropriate footwear.
Additional events include “Track to the Past,” a guided exploration at the North Concho Parking Lot on Saturday, April 19, from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m., followed by “Fish ’N Prints” from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at Chaparral Pavilion. A women’s hike is scheduled for Sunday, April 20, from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the Isabel Harte Boat Ramp Parking Lot.
The park will also participate in the City Nature Challenge from April 25–28, where participants can observe and record wildlife on their own schedule. Family Volunteer Day is set for Saturday, April 26, at the Gatehouse, with times to be announced.
