SAN ANGELO, TX — Barbecue enthusiasts and aspiring grill masters are invited to showcase their skills at the 2025 Brews, Ewes & BBQ Cook-off, scheduled for March 14-15.
The event, hosted by Downtown San Angelo, Inc., will take place along the scenic Concho River at 325 S. Oakes St.
Sanctioned by the International Barbeque Cookers Association, the cook-off will feature four competitive categories: brisket, ribs, chicken, and beans. Notably, the event includes a World Championship Lamb Cook-off, offering free lamb to the first 50 teams that register. Young chefs ages 6-18 can also participate in the Kids-Que competition.
Five places will be awarded in each category, with grand and reserve champions receiving special recognition.
Teams can register online at downtownsanangelo.com or in person at Downtown San Angelo, Inc., located at 24 W. Concho Avenue. Entry fees are $225 per team, with an additional $50 for the beans category. The Kids-Que entry fee is $25, with meat provided.
Electricity and water are not provided at the site. Teams must provide their own cooking equipment, supplies, and food items, except for the provided lamb in the lamb challenge.
Festivities begin Friday, March 14, as teams set up their cooking areas. Saturday’s schedule includes turn-ins for various categories, with beans at 11 a.m., chicken at noon, and brisket at 3 p.m., concluding with lamb and Kids-Que entries later in the afternoon.
Attendees can enjoy live entertainment, food and craft vendors, and craft brews. Proceeds from the event will support Downtown San Angelo, Inc.’s efforts to revitalize the city’s historic downtown.
