Former San Angelo Mayor Tim Edwards Dies at 78

SAN ANGELO, TX — Tim Edwards, a former San Angelo mayor, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025. He was 78.

Edwards was born in San Antonio in 1946, and he graduated from Pecos High School, but he lived most of his life in San Angelo.

He became an attorney here in 1973 and spent much of his career as a partner with Gerald Ratliff before retiring in 2013.

Edwards served as a City Councilman and was San Angelo’s mayor from 1989 to 1991.

The creation of O.H. Ivie Reservoir and a water-sharing agreement between San Angelo, Abilene and Midland was a notable project during Edwards’ time on the council.

Edwards attended law school at Baylor University, where he met his wife, Georgia Alice, who preceded him in death less than a year ago. They had four children — Rachel, Glen, Blake and Alice.
