San Angelo Police Lt. Tracy Fincher Retires After Nearly 30 Years of Service

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – The San Angelo Police Department announced the retirement of Lt. Tracy Fincher, who has dedicated 29 years and two months to the department.

Lt. Fincher began his public service in the U.S. Navy from 1989 to 1993 before transitioning to law enforcement. His career started at the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office in 1993, and he joined the San Angelo Police Department on November 1, 1995. Early assignments included the Patrol Division and serving as a Narcotics Detective for the Rio Concho Multi-Agency Task Force.

Promoted to sergeant on March 1, 2002, Fincher took on roles in Patrol, Administration, and the Office of Professional Standards. He advanced to lieutenant on August 16, 2004, overseeing divisions including Patrol, Narcotics, Criminal Investigations, Intelligence, and the Street Crimes Division.

On June 15, 2016, Chief of Police Frank Carter appointed Fincher as Assistant Chief of Police over Operations. Over his career, Fincher was awarded Officer of the Year in 2005, CID Supervisor of the Year in 2013, the Chief’s Special Award in 2015, and Investigative Supervisor of the Year in 2016. He also served 14 years on the SAPD SWAT Team, completing his tenure as its commander.

The San Angelo Police Department celebrated Fincher’s service, thanking him for nearly three decades of dedication.
