San Angelo Girl Airlifted After Tree Swing Accident, Fundraiser Nears Goal

SAN ANGELO, TX - A fundraiser has been launched to support Annsleigh Alcantar, a 9-year-old girl who suffered a severe head injury in a tree swing accident on Oct. 16, 2024.

Alcantar was airlifted to a larger hospital facility where she remains in critical condition after undergoing numerous tests and surgeries. She is currently in a medically induced coma as doctors work to manage the pressure in her brain.

The accident happened when a tree branch broke while Alcantar was swinging, causing her to fall and fracture her skull. The family, who includes four daughters, has been overwhelmed with medical expenses, travel costs, and other financial burdens. A GoFundMe campaign has raised nearly $13,000 towards the family’s $15,000 goal to help with these costs.

In an update on Oct. 18, McCurry shared that Alcantar had a difficult day, with changes made to her medications and the insertion of a drain to relieve brain pressure. She remains sedated and intubated as part of her treatment. The family has asked for continued prayers for Alcantar’s recovery, specifically requesting prayers for stable brain pressure and regulated body temperature.
