SAN ANGELO -- The Angelo State University Symphony Orchestra will present its first concert of the fall season on Thursday, Oct. 3, at 7 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church at 32 N. Irving St. in downtown San Angelo.
Titled "Melodies of Majesty," the concert is free and open to the public. The ASU Symphony Orchestra will be joined by three featured soloists: Dr. John Irish of the ASU music faculty on trumpet, adjunct faculty member Dr. Louellen Meyer on organ, and Lauren Ochoa, winner of the 2024 ASU Concerto Competition, on clarinet.
The musical program will include:
- "Prayer of St. Gregory" by Alan Hovhaness
- "Adagio" by Tomasso Albinoni
- "Symphony No. 40 in G minor, K. 550" by W.A. Mozart
- "Clarinet Concerto in A major, K. 622" by W.A. Mozart
The ASU Symphony Orchestra includes about 50 student musicians and is directed by Dr. Fagner Magrinelli Rocha, associate professor of music.
