SAN ANGELO, TX — In observance of Good Friday, the City of San Angelo and Tom Green County will pause operations.
City Closures:
City Hall, the Municipal Court, and recreational facilities are among the sectors that will see a halt in services. However, essential functions such as trash collection and landfill operations will proceed uninterrupted.
City departments, including Animal Services, Community Development, water billing at the City Hall Annex, and the Fairmount Cemetery's business offices, will pause operations.
The closure extends to Parks and Recreation offices, the Health Department, and both the Southside and Carl Ray Johnson recreation centers, along with the Station 618 and Santa Fe Crossing senior centers.
The WIC offices will also close, extending their regular Friday closure to include Thursday, March 28, with a reopening set for 7 a.m. on April 1.
Fort Concho and the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts announce special hours and closures, respectively, around the holiday, providing opportunities for community engagement.
Concho Valley PAWS and the San Angelo Police Department will also observe the holiday, with closures affecting their operations.
County Closures:
The Tom Green County Library will shutter all branches on Good Friday, with normal hours resuming on Saturday, March 30.
According to the Tom Green County website, all county offices will be closed today, March 29.
School Closures:
San Angelo ISD's website also states that officers are closed today. Most schools follow San Angelo ISD's schedule.
City, school, and county offices will resume regular schedules on Monday, April 1, following the Good Friday closure.
What about retail?
Notable chains such as H-E-B, Walmart, Target, and Sam's Club, along with popular eateries like Whataburger and Raising Cane's, have announced their open hours.
Most restaurants will also be open on Good Friday, including fast food chains such as Wendy's, Chick-fil-A, Taco Bell, Burger King, McDonald's, Starbucks, Olive Garden, Dominoes, and more.

- H-E-B: 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- Walmart: 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- Target: 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- Sam's Club: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Whataburger: 24 hours
- Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers: 10:30 am. to 11 p.m.
- Raising Cane's 10 a.m. to 1 a.m.
Delivery and Pharmacy?
Pharmacies, including Walgreens and CVS, along with delivery services UPS and FedEx, will operate normally, depending on location.
Banks?
Good Friday is not a federal holiday; some banks might be open; check with your bank for availability.
