SAN ANGELO, TX – The San Angelo Fire Department is set to conduct an "Emergency Medical Technician Initial Course" at the San Angelo Fire Regional Training Center, located at 3154 N. Hwy 67.
The course will run from February 26 to April 10, 2024, with classes scheduled on Mondays through Fridays.

Interested individuals must pre-register for the course, with registration and payment due by February 19, 2024. The course is limited to 20 students, and early registration is encouraged to secure a spot.
The EMT Initial Course costs $1,400, covering an eBook and EMS testing fees. However, the fee does not include the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) application and testing fees.
To be eligible for enrollment, students must fulfill certain prerequisites, including successfully completing a background check. Additionally, applicants must possess the American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR certification and provide proof of medical insurance.
Proof of immunization is a mandatory requirement, including Hepatitis B, Measles (MMR), Varicella (Chickenpox), Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis (Tdap), Influenza, and Tuberculosis Clearance.
A negative drug screen is also necessary, along with three doses or a positive titer for Hepatitis B, two doses or a positive titer for Measles and Varicella, and a Tdap vaccination within the past 10 years.
Annual requirements include a Tuberculosis Clearance completed annually by PPD or Chest X-ray, with the last three years approved by a physician. All immunizations and screenings must be completed before starting clinical/field rotations.
