SAN ANGELO, TX — Get ready to set your clocks back an hour because Daylight Savings ends this weekend. While everyone across the country may feel a bit more rested with an extra hour of sleep before the alarm clocks go off, we also will leave work on Monday evening in total darkness.
Regardless of how anyone feels about Daylight Savings Time compared to Standard Time, it’s happening, so prepare to set the clocks back an hour early on Sunday morning, November 5.
2:00 a.m. will become 1:00 a.m. again. America can take advantage and have a good night’s rest. Standard time will be in effect from November 5 until March 10.
Falling back seems always easier than springing forward, but for many people in this country, the practice seems irrelevant. Two times now, Congress tried to pass a bill that would have the country observe Daylight Savings all year. In March 2022, the U.S. Senate passed a bill known as the Daylight Protection Act. However, the bill died in the House. The bill was re-introduced in March of this year but, to this day, remains idle.
Several other states and territories currently do not observe Daylight Savings, including Arizona, Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The back-and-forth hassle continues for at least another year, so be prepared to turn back the clocks an hour on Saturday night.
