Deputies Dominate Battle of the Badge Charity Rib Eating Competition

SAN ANGELO, TX — On Friday, July 21, Texas Roadhouse, the restaurant located at 3057 W. Loop 306 in San Angelo, hosted the Battle of the Badge Rib Eating Contest between the San Angelo Police Department and the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office. The event featured four members from each law enforcement agency in a race to see who could eat a slab of ribs the fastest.

Texas Roadhouse hosted the event to put the spotlight on our First Responders while raising money for charity. It was a tight race until the very end, but the Sheriff’s Department edged out the SAPD at the last second to claim the victory. With the win, Texas Roadhouse donated $500 to the Children’s Advocacy Center of Greater West Texas, located at 3418 Town and Country Drive in San Angelo.

Check out the end of the race below:

With big smiles, a belly full of great ribs, and barbeque sauce covering everyone, members from both agencies congratulated each other after the race ended. Both teams posed for pictures outside the restaurant after the event concluded. Members of the winning team included:

  • Sergeant Ty Kimrey
  • Sergeant Kory Skinner
  • Sergeant Eric Samaniego
  • Deputy Jerry Robertson

The Tom Green County Sheriff's Office joked good-naturedly about the event on its Facebook Page.

"It was a fight till the last bite...and your Tom Green County Sheriff's Office won the rib-eating contest! Congratulations to San Angelo Police Department for the worthy competition, and we look forward to beating y'all again next year!"

Texas Roadhouse is collecting donations for local first responders at the restaurant. All donations collected at the event will be given to the Children’s Advocacy Center of Greater West Texas. If you haven’t already, come out and support our local first responders at Texas Roadhouse today.
