San Angelo Landfill to Accept Electronics after Recycling Center Closed

SAN ANGELO, TX -- (Press Release) Beginning Monday April 23, San Angelo residents will be able to recycle electronics at the City landfill, located at 3002 Old Ballinger Highway.

Republic Services will accept electronics from people with a photo ID that shows a San Angelo address. The landfill is open from 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and from 7 a.m.-2 p.m.Saturdays. The free service will be provided year-round.

Electronics that will be accepted include televisions, computers, stereos and cellphones. The landfill also accepts appliances, which can also be picked up during a household’s bulk trash pickup day every other week. The landfill does not accept batteries.

The move to accept electronics is in response to the closing of the San Angelo Friends of the Environment (SAFE) recycling center at 702 Warehouse Road following its Earth Day event. On Saturday, April 21, SAFE will offer free document shredding from 9 a.m. to noon (unless the shredder trucks fill up earlier). SAFE will be accepting other materials until 4 p.m. that day.
