SAN ANGELO, TX — The City of San Angelo’s Operations Department is setting up three sites for dropping off debris caused by Friday night’s thunderstorms. The sites are at:
- Foster Communications Coliseum, 50 E. 43rd St., north of the former Lake View stadium.
- San Angelo Stadium at the corner of Knickerbocker Road and Johnson Street. The drop-off point will be in the parking lot alongside Johnson.
- The Lake Operations maintenance facility at 2301 Fisherman’s Road, near the intersection of Fisherman’s and Knickerbocker roads.
Debris should be placed within the area marked by orange traffic barrels at each site. Tree limbs, brush and other woody debris will be accepted. Metal and trash will not. The sites will be open by 10 a.m. Saturday and will remain open through the weekend.
City Operations crews worked through Friday night and into today, clearing debris from streets and parks, and at Lake Nasworthy, which hosts the annual Showdown in San Angelo drag boat races this weekend. The races will be delayed until noon today. City crews will work round-the-clock through the weekend to clear streets of debris. Operations Director Shane Kelton reported massive amounts of trees and limbs in roadways across San Angelo.
