SAN ANGELO, TX- A press release from Shannon Medical Center announced that Mia Pendergrass, AuD, a Shannon Clinic audiologist, has received a Pediatric Audiology Specialty Certification (PASC) from the American Board of Audiology.
Dr. Pendergrass is one of six audiologists in the state of Texas to earn this certification.
The press release stated, “The PASC highlights the expertise of an audiologist in diagnosing and treating audio-vestibular issues and hearing loss in pediatric patients. To receive the certification, Dr. Pendergrass applied for and passed a rigorous examination.”
Dr. Pendergrass received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware. Her doctorate of audiology was earned from A.T. Still University in Mesa, Arizona.
“In addition to providing diagnostic services for all patients, birth through adulthood, Dr. Pendergrass provides: hearing aid services for children age 5 and older; repeat outpatient newborn hearing screens for infants who fail their initial hearing screening; unsedated diagnostic brainstem response (ABR) testing for infants three months and younger who have risk factors for hearing loss or who have failed multiple newborn hearing loss or who have failed multiple newborn hearing screenings; and comprehensive diagnostic audiology evaluations for children of all ages including tympanometry, otoacoustic emission and acoustic reflex testing.”
Dr. Pendergrass is registered with the Department of State Health Services Texas Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (TEHDI). This allows all testing results to be updated in the statewide tracking system for newborn screening.
Dr. Pendergrass came from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia, before she joined Shannon Clinic.
Dr. Pendergrass is now accepting new patients at her office at Shannon Clinic Southwest, 4450 Sunset Dr.
