ASU Faculty to Exhibit Art in Nepal

SAN ANGELO, TX – Eight faculty members of Angelo State's Department of Visual and Performing Arts will have the chance to display their artwork in an art exhibit entitled “Angelo State University Faculty Art Exhibition in Nepal” at the Taragaon Museum in Kathmandu, Nepal.

This special exhibit will run from November 25 through December 10, and will be facilitated by Edwin Cuenco of the ASU art faculty. Cuenco is also the 2016 Fulbright U.S. Faculty Scholar to Kathmandu University.

Artworks and video lectures by Cuenco and fellow ASU art faculty members Esteban Apodaca, Katherine Bunker, Randy Hall, Chris Stewart, Devon Stewart, Ben Sum and John Vinklarek will be included in this special art exhibit. Many pieces within the exhibit have previously been in other fine arts exhibits and juried competitions.

An opening ceremony for the exhibit will take place on November 25 and will be presided over by Alaina B. Teplitz, U.S. Ambassador to Nepal. Dignitaries from Kathmandu University, the U.S. Embassy and the U.S. Educational Foundation in Nepal’s Fulbright Commission will be in attendance.

This event will further strengthen ties between ASU and Kathmandu University following recent articulation agreement between the two schools that will soon start bringing more Nepalese students to the ASU Campus.
