The San Angelo Chamber of Commerce welcomed the opening of a new and unique shop downtown today. Meagan Smith and Tori Trowbridge, owners of Burlap & Paisley at 322 N Chadbourne St., opened their doors after three months of work to welcome shoppers of San Angelo and to provide them with a unique shopping experience.
Smith explained, “We just kind of wanted to be a one stop shop, somewhere where you can feel good about yourself whenever you leave. You can go shopping; you can buy stuff to decorate your house whether it be paintings or handcrafted goods, spray tanning, hair, nails, make-up or a full service salon.”
Trowbridge said the idea for this business started in her garage.
“I started my art in my garage three years ago," she explained. "I would find [something] and refurbish it, paint it and resale it at craft shows out of my 10x10 booth.”
Smith added, “Earlier this summer, we thought that we would bring on Tori as co-owner and just establish a little boutique. When we walked in here [in the beginning], my grandmother was actually here and she left. She was like ‘I can’t see it; I’m out of here.’ But I saw it and thought this is beautiful. I have the most amazing team. I am so blessed to have these girls.”
Burlap & Paisley is a Full Service Salon which offers hair, nails, waxing, spray tanning, a boutique, custom art work, clothing and shoes along with jewelry. It even offers a bit of furniture. Most of the merchandise is handmade and customized to fit the needs and desires of the customer. The shop also offers shipping of merchandise wherever needed.
The mission of the Burlap & Paisley staff is to be able to travel across Texas and attend trade shows in order to spread the Burlap & Paisley name.
