Today, Jan. 30th, from 11:00 am to 4:00 p.m., Concho Valley PAWS is partnering with the City of San Angelo’s animal shelter to hold an adoption event in front of Petco at 4157 Sunset Dr. This is an event that Concho Valley PAWS tries to do every month, said Jenie Wilson, executive director.
Wilson said, Concho Valley PAWS provides the volunteers and the shelter provides the dogs. When these events are held, most of the animals that are out get adopted. In the last adoption event the organization held, 36 dogs were adopted. She said this is important to get these animals a good home; not to mention, these events bring down euthanasia numbers.
Wilson said, “These are important events because we can get the dogs out of the shelter and into the community. People are often under the impression that shelter animals are “damaged” and it’s not true.”
Overall, Wilson noted that these dogs just want to find a happy home with a loving family. So for those people interested, the event is still going on if they want to go and adopt a dog today.
