Jose and Sandra Ontiverso are the owners of the four lots where the fire occurred on the corner of E. 25th St. and Oaklawn Blvd. Jose said that the neighbor witnessed kids in their early teens playing with matches near where the fire appeared to have originated.

There is one structure on the four lots remaining. The other lots contained trash and storage. Jose said that he was working on hauling all of it to the dump. The fire looked like it was originating from the alleyway between the lots on 24th and 25th street. “Since the city started this new trash deal, they don’t drive down the alleyways here anymore and keep them cleared out,” Jose said.

The fire was put out and the investigation is underway to find the cause. We will update you when the fire marshal's office releases official information about their investigation.

I thought we had a code enforcement department with a book full of enforceable city ordinances, one of which is keeping tall weeds from taking over in order to prevent this type hazard.... Oh yeah, wait.... I forgot.... The mayor and city council probably have them concentrating all their efforts on driving alleys with binoculars looking in your back yards to see if your dog still has his "Nads" or not..........
