Dusty Thompson, owner of Southern Industrial Engines & Machines, recently announced his bid for Constable of Precinct 2. This Friday night, he will be kicking off his campaign with a “good old fashioned shin dig” at Pecan Creek Pavilion.
“We are having a fundraiser to support my race for Constable of Precinct 2,” Thompson stated. “We are asking for the members of the community and the residents and business owners of Precinct 2 to come out; and any other precinct as well, that's fine. Just come out and get to know me, ask your questions and voice your concerns. Come talk to me, see what's going on, see what I have to say.”
He also stated that this isn't just about gaining votes for himself, but encouraging the community to vote in general.
“I want to encourage people to get out and vote because that's very important. No matter who you're voting for, it's important that you vote,” noted Thompson. “We just want to have a good time and get to know each other. We are all neighbors so we should know each other.”
Hamburgers, cheeseburgers, french fries, and beverages – including a keg – will be served at Saturday's night's event. Local band Hyatus will be providing the entertainment for the evening as well.
“I hope to gain recognition in the community, and also a bond with the community because we are going to have to work together to make change,” Thompson said. “Hopefully, that will start Saturday night. The community should know not only who is running for office, [but] they should also know who their constable is from day one, not 10 years later.”
Thompson's campaign dinner will be from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. this Friday, Jan. 22, at the Pecan Creek Pavilion, located at 8455 Country Club Road.
It is a family-friendly event, and there is not a set charge. However, donations that will go towards Dusty Thompson's campaign are accepted and appreciated.
