If you are looking for ways to spend you Easter weekend in San Angelo, besides hanging out at the lake, you may want to gather up the kids and make the rounds to a few Easter Egg Hunts. Or if you are looking for more adult entertainment, San Angelo certainly has both in store this weekend.
Saturday morning, the First Baptist Church will host an Easter egg hunt at the Firefighter’s Memorial City Park at 315 E.Twohig Ave from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The younger children will be allowed to begin hunting first to give everyone, big and small an opportunity to participate.
From 11 a.m.to 2 p.m. at the Texas Bank Sports Complex at E. Rio Concho Dr. and Bell St. you can participate in what is said to be the largest Easter Egg Hunt in Texas, sponsored by Goodfellow, the San Angelo Police Department, and the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Department. There will be inflatable bounce houses, door prizes, hot dogs and popcorn all free of charge. At 12:15 p.m. a helicopter will drop 150,000 candy eggs for kids of all ages to hunt.
The San Angelo Nature Center, 7409 Knickerbocker Rd., will celebrate Easter on Saturday afternoon as well from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The cost for Nature Center members is $1 per person, non- members pay $1 for ages 1-3, $3 for ages 4-12, and $4 for ages 13 and up. The eggs will be hidden in the center’s natural environments. There will also be a small petting zoo, photo stations, free candy, and more.
At Santa Fe Park & Golf Course, 111 W. River Dr., from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., One Perfect Party will host egg hunts throughout the day beginning at 10 a.m. with staggered hunting schedules for all age groups. Children will enjoy egg hunting with super heroes, princesses, princes, pirates, and fairies.
If you are looking for more adult entertainment you can find it out in Eola at the Eola School Brewery & Restaurant, 12119 FM 381, beginning at 11:30 a.m. The restaurant menu will include barbeque with sides. There will be live entertainment featuring the Trading Company. Fresh brewed beer will be on tap brewed right there in the old schoolhouse.
Saturday night you can catch Scott Dean McCurry, a Texas Country singer-songwriter from Dallas at Concho’s Downtown at 9 p.m. “Making this kind of music is something I’ve wanted to do for years,” said Mc Curry. “Living in Texas my entire life, I have always been exposed to it, and always had such an admiration for classic country and its ability to vividly bring stories to life.”
