Rainfall Causes Flooding all Over San Angelo Friday Night

Heavy rainfall has caused severe flooding and emergency rescues all over town. Emergency personnel are urging motorists to avoid the streets save for cases of absolute emergency (i.e., you need to go to the ER). If you see pooled water on the street, AVOID IT, officials vehemently urge.

Please thank The Lord for the rain he has sent us. We need to ask Him to send us more until All of our streams, rivers, lakes, reservoirs, farmers and ranchers tanks and all of our water tables to fill up. Then be sure if it hasn't rained all over Texas to ask for Him to fill All of our land. It would be so nice to see All of SAN ANGELO was green and beautiful again. Please PRAY. Then thank Him, Thank Him, Thank Him for the rain he has sent!
Say has anybody contacted the airport to see if they got any rain, as you know unless they get the wet stuff it never happened.
Thankful for the rain, and yet...driving by the old Central HS building this morning at 8 a.m. all sprinklers were going FULL BLAST, watering the field that borders Oakes St after a downpour the previous night. Why? Way to go Central, for your water conservation efforts. We taxpaying and water conserving residents surely do appreciate your sensitivity to our water issues. And, as an aside, what good is this "water abuse hotline" when it isn't manned after hours or on the weekends?
I understand your frustration with the sprinkler issue at Central HS. However, most likely the system is on automatic and put on a water schedule according to current watering restriction guidelines. No one is probably there on a Saturday morning to turn the sprinkler system off and then back on. I doubt the financial realities of paying employees to man the "water abuse hotline" 24/7. The calls are most likely very infrequent and wouldn't justify the cost to the city or it's taxpayers.

I wonder if that was a sarcastic jab in the remark under the photo of College Hills (where the proposed dog park is supposed to go.) I don't disagree that the four-legged citizens of our community would benefit from a safe place to romp... but I DO think that it needs to be in another location. I give it one good rain after this thing goes up and that area floods - before all that hard work is washed right down the arroyo.
Overnight precipitation 2.35 inches @ 7:00 AM Sunday in Twin Oaks neighborhood. Friday's precipitation was 3.10 inches. Storm total since Friday 5.45 inches. More is in the forecast through Tuesday morning.
