Tell Me a Story Seeks to Empower Military Children

The Military Child Education Coalition program is partnering with the Concho Valley RSVP to bring the ‘Tell Me A Story’ (TMAS) program to local military children.

According to the official site for TMAS, “The mission of the program is to empower Military Children by using literature and their own stories in a way that fosters skills for resilience, strong peer and parent connections, a sense of pride and accomplishment, and a caring community.”

Said mission is aligned with the beliefs of the Concho Valley RSVP volunteer organization.

The organization is composed of volunteers ages 55 and older that utilizes the experiences and wisdom of the seniors to meet critical community needs.

Volunteers for ‘Tell Me A Story’ will serve in a variety of ways from registration assistance, facilitating breakout sessions, and distributing materials and snacks.

New Volunteer Training will be held Thursday, October 17, 3:00PM at the Concho Valley RSVP office at 618 S. Chadbourne.

For more information or to sign up for volunteer training, call the RSVP office at 325.223.6387 by Tuesday, October 14, 2013.
