City of San Angelo Seeking Crossing Guards Ahead of School Year

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — The City of San Angelo is now accepting applications for school crossing guards and relief crossing guards ahead of the 2025-26 school year.

Those interested can apply online on the City of San Angelo's website HERE.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Direct and control children through crosswalks safely.

  • Observe and respond appropriately to oncoming traffic.

  • Maintain time and attendance records and complete daily tracking forms.

  • Perform duties in all weather conditions.

  • Provide timely response to short-notice work assignments.

  • Transport crossing guard equipment to assigned location using a personal vehicle.

  • Use a personal cell phone for emergency communication and scheduling.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 7–8:15 a.m. and 2:30–4 p.m.
This is an on-call position.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Reliable transportation and a personal cell phone.

  • Ability to lift 10–15 pounds overhead and walk unassisted over uneven terrain.

  • English language proficiency; Spanish language skills are a plus.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to follow oral and written instructions.

  • Basic math skills.

Additional Requirements:

  • No convictions involving moral turpitude.

  • Regular and timely attendance is required.
