SAN ANGELO, TX — “One of the things I’d like to see in district 6, and one of the things I gt calls on all of the time, is traffic congestions. I’d like to get some kind of engineering study done in our high traffic areas to see what we can do to relieve the some of the traffic in some of our high traffic areas,” SMD 6 Councilwoman Billie DeWitt said. She added that the good thing is San Angelo is growing, but with that comes traffic challenges.

Secondly, DeWitt said she wants to lower the City of San Angelo’s 0.776 property tax rates. She cited the recent successes in economic development initiatives that should generate more revenue for the city’s general fund. She credited Mayor Brenda Gunter for pushing these initiatives, especially getting the state and federal authorities to forge ahead with two interstate highways that are programmed to be built through San Angelo.
