Pfluger Screams to Victory in Full Afterburner
SAN ANGELO, TX — August Pfluger, the upstart Republican candidate for congressman for Congressional District 11 easily won election in the district with 79.3 percent of the vote district wide (with 95.3 percent of the vote counted as of this writing). In Tom Green County, Pfluger carried 72.71 percent of the vote.
Pfluger talked to San Angelo LIVE!’s Matt Trammell just as the winning numbers were coming in.
About his pending win, he said, “We’ve been working hard. We’ve had good feedback from throughout the district.”
Pfluger took exception to presidential candidate Joe Biden’s remarks regarding the oil and gas industry.
“We’re facing a Full-on attack, with the words that former vice president Biden said about the oil and gas industry. Not only does oil and gas help the economy but it is a national security issue,” Pfluger said.
Once in congress, Pfluger vowed to set forth and defend the oil and gas industry.
“We’re going to have to form an alliance in the House and Senate to educate them what those products do and how it has lifted 1 billion people out of poverty,” he said.
Pfluger also paid respects to retiring CD-11 Congressman K. Michael Conway.
“He has done a wonderful job. His being chairman of the House Ag Committee… His leadership style. He is a man of integrity,” Pfluger said.
“I want to thank you for your support and I look forward to being your representative. It’s important that this district leads. That we get our message out about oil and gas, and agriculture,” Pfluger said.
Pfluger relayed an incident earlier today at an Odessa polling place. He said he talks to everyone, even those who didn’t support him. However, now that he is the congressman-elect, he vowed to represent everyone.
The culmination of the campaign has brought Pfluger a long way since his days flying fighters in the U.S. Air Force.
“Four years ago tonight, I was flying over Iraq and Syria. That mentality of knowing how to stand up and fight is what I’m bringing to congress,” he said. “This district deserves someone who is a fighter.”
