Interview: August Pfluger on Running for Congress, Flying Airplanes, and National Security

SAN ANGELO, TX — August Pfluger wants to represent Congressional District 11 as the congressman. Pfluger is from San Angelo and is returning here to raise his family after an active duty career as a fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force.

During his career in the armed forces, Pfluger served as a military advisor on the staff of the National Security Council under John Bolton in the Trump administration.

In this video interview, Pfluger talks about his family and reasons for running for congress. We also talk about flying and August shares his most memorable experience as an F-22 pilot during a strike against Syria.

On Monday, September 30, Pfluger holds a public event at the San Angelo Convention and Visitors Bureau to officially kick off his campaign tour of Texas’ 11th Congressional District.

The event will begin at 11 a.m. and is open to the public.

Pfluger formally announced his campaign for U.S. Congress on September 12 and will spend the next several weeks visiting all 29 counties in the district.

Pfluger is a seventh-generation Texan, an elite F-15C and F-22 combat fighter pilot, and a former National Security Council advisor to President Trump. He graduated from San Angelo Central High School before attending the U.S. Air Force Academy.

August is a conservative Republican, a proud husband and father, and a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. He met his wife, Camille (also a native Texan) at his family ranch in October 2000. They have three young daughters, Vivian, Caroline, and Juliana.

CD-11 extends from Granbury in the east through San Angelo to Midland and Odessa in the west.

We interviewed J. Ross Lacy earlier this month. Lacy is also running for the Republican party nod for Congress for CD-11. See that interview here.
