INTERVIEW: J. Ross Lacy Wants to Be Your Next Congressman
SAN ANGELO, TX — Midland City Councilman J. Ross Lacy is running for the U.S. House of Representatives to replace Congressman Mike Conaway. He was in San Angelo on Monday and stopped by the San Angelo LIVE! studios to introduce himself to San Angelo and discuss many of the issues.
Lacy owns an oil field services business and for seven years has served on the Midland City Council. Lacy is a lifelong Republican and conservative.
He said he would be an advocate for a strong oil and gas industry, an advocate for securing the U.S.-Mexico border, and will be an ally of President Donald J. Trump’s “America First” agenda.
He is a graduate of Midland Lee High School and earned his BBA in finance from UT-Permian Basin.
In this interview, we discuss the issues that Lacy has faced on the Midland City Council, including the controversial Midland Spaceport. He served as president of the Midland Spaceport Development Corp. Yet, in this interview notes that the decision to fund the development of the Spaceport—at a cost of over $20 million—was decided before he was on Midland City Council. Now that the project is complete, however, Lacy believes the Spaceport designation for the airport situated between Midland and Odessa is fostering economic diversification to the region.
