SAN ANGELO, TX — Early voting in Tom Green County has seen record turnout, with nearly half of registered voters casting ballots before Election Day on Nov. 5.
According to Elections Administrator Vona Hudson, a total of 30,875 ballots had been submitted as of Friday, representing 45.5% of the county’s registered voters.
Daily counts indicate that 2,370 voters turned out on October 30, followed by 2,039 on October 31. By mid-morning on Friday, the final day of early voting, an additional 301 in-person votes had been counted, with numbers rising steadily. Hudson noted that the county’s early voting numbers are the highest she has seen in her tenure.
“It’s the highest percentage I ever remember having during early voting,” Hudson said, adding that similar high turnout has been reported across the state. Counties like Washington County have exceeded 50% of registered voters during early voting alone.
With Election Day on Tuesday, Hudson reminded voters that today’s the last opportunity to cast a limited ballot, as this option will not be available on Election Day. She also reiterated guidelines for polling locations, including restrictions on cell phone use, picture-taking, and electioneering.
