Fiery Pfluger Forces a Mayorkas Apology

WASHINGTON D.C. — During a congressional committee hearing on Wednesday, April 19, Rep. August Pfluger asked the Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Myorkas to apologize to the Tambunga family whose grandmother and granddaughter were killed in a high-speed crash involving human trafficking and an illegal coyote.

On March 13, Emilia Tambunga and Maria Tambunga were on the way to get some ice cream when the human trafficker struck their vehicle at high speed.

Myorkas stood up, turned around, and apologized to the grieving family. After the apology Pfluger showed a video to Myorkas of the Secretary saying that he believed the border to be safe and secure. Pfluger then asked if Myorkas still believed that to be the case even with evidence to the contrary before him in the capitol building.

Pfluger claimed that the Chief of the Border Patrol Raul Ortiz disagrees with Myorkas on the status of the border and said it is not safe and secure. When Pfluger asked Myorkas if the Secretary disagreed with his head of border patrol, Myorkas said he did not agree with border patrol before disregarding the question completely.
