SAN ANGELO, TX — A wind advisory remains in effect until noon Friday for most of West Central Texas, including the Big Country, Concho Valley, and Heartland areas, as a cold front brings gusty north winds and potential blowing dust.
The National Weather Service in San Angelo issued the advisory early Friday, warning of sustained north winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. Areas of blowing dust could reduce visibility at times. Motorists, especially those in high-profile vehicles, are urged to drive with caution, and residents should secure loose outdoor objects.
Friday’s weather will be sunny but windy and cool, with highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s. Winds are expected to decrease to 15 to 25 mph in the afternoon, though occasional higher gusts remain possible. Elevated fire weather conditions will affect the entire region due to dry air and lingering winds.
A cold front moving through the area Friday morning is driving the strongest winds, forecasters said. Cooler temperatures are forecast through early next week as additional fronts pass through. Highs Saturday will drop to the upper 40s to low 50s, followed by lows in the upper 20s to low 30s. Warmer conditions are expected to return by midweek, with highs climbing back into the 60s.
