SAN ANGELO, TX — A series of cold fronts will bring cooler temperatures to West Central Texas starting Friday and continuing into early next week, with highs dropping into the 50s and 60s and overnight lows falling into the 20s and 30s, the National Weather Service in San Angelo forecast Thursday.
Before the cooler air arrives, Thursday will feature above-normal temperatures with sunny skies and highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s. Breezy southwest winds of 10 to 15 mph, with higher gusts, combined with dry fuels, will create elevated fire weather conditions this afternoon, mainly across the Big Country region north and west of San Angelo.
In San Angelo, Thursday’s high is expected to reach 70 degrees. Other area highs include 72 in Haskell, 71 in Abilene and Sweetwater, 69 in Junction and Brownwood, and 67 in Ozona and Brady.
The National Weather Service said Thursday’s temperatures will be above normal, while Friday through early next week will trend near to below normal.
