Sunset Hike, Full Moon Trek, Awareness Events and More at San Angelo State Park

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo State Park will offer a variety of public events throughout September, ranging from night hikes and astronomy programs to wildlife viewing and educational meetups.

The month kicks off Saturday, Sept. 6, with a Full Moon Hike from 8 to 9:30 p.m. starting at the Playground Parking Lot. The following Saturday, Sept. 13, features two events: Skins & Skulls at the Bison & Longhorn Viewing Area at 9 a.m., and the Girl Scouts Love State Parks initiative at various park locations and times.

On Sunday, Sept. 14, a Sunset Hike will be held at the Highland Range Overlook from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Additional events include a Lunch & Learn on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Fort Concho from 12 to 1 p.m. and Deaf Outdoors Day & Awareness on Saturday, Sept. 20, at Chaparral Pavilion from 10 to 11 a.m.

That same evening, park visitors can attend a Star Party from 7:45 to 9 p.m. at the Red Arroyo Campground Boat Ramp. On Sunday, Sept. 21, a Women’s Sunset Hike will begin at the Burkett Trailhead from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The month wraps up with a Suicide Awareness Veterans Ruck on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 8:45 to 10:30 a.m. at the Playground Parking Lot.

Bison and Longhorn Viewing continues every Wednesday and Saturday at 9 a.m.
