SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo State Park’s “Star Party” has been rescheduled for Saturday, June 28, after cloud cover forced a postponement earlier this week.
The event, originally planned for June 25, will run from 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and invites visitors to join Ranger Kennie and local astronomers in exploring the night skies over San Angelo. Participants will learn how light affects visibility and discover summer constellations through telescopes and guided discussions.
The program is open to the public and takes place at 362 S FM 2288, San Angelo, though the exact viewing location inside the park is to be announced. Attendees are encouraged to bring water, chairs, blankets and, if possible, a red light flashlight or headlamp to preserve night vision.
The event is free for children 12 and under, as well as for Texas State Park Pass holders. Park entrance fees apply for others, costing $4 for visitors ages 13 and up.
Saturday’s Star Party is part of a series of free June events hosted by San Angelo State Park, which also featured nighttime hikes, wildlife viewings, and s’mores with a ranger. Weekly bison and longhorn viewings continue every Wednesday and Saturday at 9 a.m.
